Broadening Historical Knowledge through Ayo ke Museum Program 


Starbucks’ partners was having a fun time with children from Indonesian Street Children Organization (ISCO) when visiting some museums in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan.

Starbucks Indonesia brings back “Ayo ke Museum” program in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Heritage Preservation and Museum, the Directorate General of Culture, and Ministry of Education and Culture. The program aims to increase the public interest to visit museums and appreciate the Indonesian cultural values. Through this program, Starbucks is committed to help preserving the local culture wherever they are.

From the neighborhoods where their stores are located, to the ones where their coffee is grown – Starbucks believes in being involved in the surrounding communities. As a part of their community service, Starbucks Indonesia plans a trip to the museum with children from orphanages and underprivileged children in 8 cities; Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Semarang, Pekanbaru, Denpasar, Makassar, and Yogyakarta.

This event is created to support one of Starbucks CSR program “Ayo ke Museum” that is already running and also their commitment in preserving the local culture and Indonesian history which involves Starbucks partners (employees), the community, and children in Indonesia. "Our hope is that everyone, especially the younger generation, can broaden their knowledge about history in a fun and exciting way by visiting museums," said Andrea Siahaan, Head of Corporate PR & Communications Starbucks Indonesia.



Through “Ayo ke Museum” program, Starbucks is committed to help preserving the local culture wherever they are.

Since launched in 2008, the program has received a positive response from both the public and the government in Indonesia. Starbucks Indonesia will distribute free entrance tickets to customers at the participating stores in 15 cities: Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Cirebon, Malang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Medan, Makassar, Samarinda, Lombok, Denpasar, Pontianak, Pekanbaru dan Lampung.

These tickets can be used at the entrance of 20 selected museums from August 9th, 2018 to November 9th, 2018. Simply by making any purchase every Thursday with Starbucks Card in the participating stores, you will be entitled to get 2 free entry tickets (while stocks last) to the museum. Starbucks Card is a stored value and member card that offers you greater convenience when you make your purchase at any Starbucks store in Indonesia.
